Wanderings of the Mind, In the Mind

Forlorn and wistful, I sigh once more
far away, somewhere I want to go
My mind is traveling leaving me behind-
a journey long pending, a trip overdue.
I am all set to explore the new.

Twists and turns with alacrity I tackle,
through the paths that unfold I travel
I daren’t look back, nor too much ahead
nor anticipate the coming bend
coz I may not make it to the end.

Oh but the journey has revealed
all the wonders I had never seen
The colors, the textures, the smells-
unleashing feelings I thought were dead.
I can sense the promise of more just ahead.

I have to return mind to body soon
slowly retrace every step I took
I pick up little trinkets along the way.
I feel no regret at leaving because
the return is as blissful as the coming ever was
